The time has finally come. The island is getting knocked out of here!! Eeek! The “before“ photos of the kitchen:

The now, multi-height island.

That green cupboard is acting as my pantry/storage unit the remodel is complete. I found it on Marketplace for $80 and I love love it. Trying to figure out where we’ll use it when I don’t need it in here any longer. I don’t want to get rid of it!
I will be sharing more details along the way with specifics as to what we are using, why we're doing what, and all that good stuff. For now, see the vision board and shop some of the pretty pieces I'm buying, or have already bought.
In the vision board, those are our actual cabinets. The island will be the gorgeous chestnut brown with a butchers block top. and the cabinets will be the off white, and we will be doing a marble-look quartz and a pretty, simple backsplash. Joshua's family's business, True Craft, was re-modeling one of their client's home and they were getting rid of the cabinets. Since there wasn't anything wrong with them, and they're clean, we decided to use those as they were just going to be trashed! I love the style. I don't mind the cabinets that are trending right now, but I do love the traditional and classic feel these have. I'm glad that we saved in an expense that we were initially going to have! Blessings from the Lord!
The new layout will be much more efficient. The island is going to be all one height (thank the Lord!), the stove will go on the wall the refrigerator is currently on, and the fridge will move to where the green cupboard is now. (The cupboard will be moved into the "office", which is another story for another day.) The dishwasher may have to be moved to the left of the sink once the new cabinets go in, we will just have to see. What I am most excited about is having more storage to properly store everything we have. It will be nice for everything to have a real "home".
We want to create a homey, inviting, yet elegant kitchen. Think "Nancy Meyer Movie Kitchen". Bright, airy, functional, classic, and traditional. I want a homey kitchen without having to sacrifice beauty for functionality. I love a European style kitchen for that very reason. As one of the most used room of a home, it has to be completely and utterly functional, yet still hold a sort of simple, understated elegance.
